This film tells the amazing stories of nine extraordinary girls and women whose routine is linked to the water. It is a large-scale work about those who dedicated their lives to the Ocean, becoming outstanding surfers, marine biologists, divers, ecologists.
"She is the Ocean" is a documentary. There is no single storyline, there are nine unique and different lives and destinies. These are women from different countries, from Germany to Indonesia, of different ages, from 12 to 85 years old. It would seem that they have nothing in common. Perhaps they do, but they have one uniting thing: the water element.

For example, viewers have the opportunity to watch the young Chinta Hansel, a twelve-year-old surfer from Bali, dreaming of conquering the boundless ocean and becoming a world champion of surfing. Or admire the strength, courage, and passion for their life's work of world surfing legends Coco Ho and Keala Kennelly, who probably can't live without a board. And that's all despite their fears and perceived impossibilities. As well as real and very scary incidents that could have cost lives and may have been a reason to quit surfing. Despite this, the heroines reached unprecedented heights in professional surfing and tamed the waves by their power, comparable with a tsunami in power and danger.
And the story of Jenny Chesser as nothing else proves that you can overcome absolutely everything. An inexpressibly moving story of an elderly surfer who, unfortunately, literally, lost her husband and then her son in the Ocean, who defeated cancer and never gave up, cannot leave the viewer indifferent. Neither can the story of Andrea Moller, who, in addition to surfing, valiantly works as a doctor in the EMERCOM unit, saving the lives of others.
Watching the film, you can get to know the water from a completely different perspective - by diving. In this respect, the story of Ocean Ramsey seems fantastic. This girl is a diver, a biologist and... a "shark charmer." She can swim with the toothy objects of her study at a depth of 30 meters without any protection. As she says, her vocation is to help people perceive sharks differently, to understand that they are not ruthless and not creepy, but, on the contrary, very smart and sometimes need our protection. With the help of the Ocean storyline, the film's eco-evangelism message is realized. The viewer gets acquainted with the plight of the Ocean these days, with the horrifying killing of sea creatures. He gets to know and realize that every person on Earth has a choice: to be the Ocean's friend and comrade-in-arms or the Ocean's enemy and murderer. Sylvia Earle, the world's first woman to become a marine biologist, also talks about how beautiful, fragile and amazing the Ocean is. We set out in a deep-sea submarine to enjoy the magic of the ocean floor.
And Chilean freediver Rose Molina doesn't need a submarine to get down there. Instead, just a deep breath and unbelievable energy which charges even through the screen of the cinema. Rose talks about her philosophy of freedom, of union with the world, nature and her own body. Anna Bader, the diving world champion, echoes her. Like no one else, she knows all about height, adrenaline, the struggle with her fears and the limits of her abilities. Moments where she jumps into the ocean from a 25-meter cliff just takes your breath away.
The premiere of the film was memorable for a public talk with the film director Inna Blokhina and the members of the crew after the screening. Inna told about the idea and the message of the film, which she tried to bring to the audience. The message is that our life should be full of love for everything around us, full of freedom and courage in overcoming our fears and doubts. She also shared some unusual facts and even mystical stories that happened during the filming and editing. For example, the audience learned that originally there were supposed to be ten women in the film. During the preparation of the storyline Russian freediver, Natalia Molchanova tragically died during one of her dives in Ibiza. Her story was not completed and, unfortunately, could not become part of the film.
The real surprise was the online conference with two "She's the Ocean" heroines, Keala Kennelly and Andrea Moller. Viewers had the opportunity to ask their questions.
The project was filmed over five years in different parts of the world: Bali, Portugal, Australia, Tahiti and California. All of the footage is real, none of it is artificially created or staged.
Hurry up to see and love this magnificent element!
