The international fair of intellectual literature usually takes place in the Gostiny Dvor complex and gathers not only publishers but also visitors who were looking forward to the largest book event in the country. The opening of the 22nd “non/fiction” fair was supposed to open last December but the pandemic has made its own adjustments.

“non/fiction” is an annual major event in Russian intellectual life which shows the main events of the book industry. This year “non/fiction” presented 400 different events through seminars and discussion platforms. More than 300 publishing houses from 19 countries participated in the fair, so readers were able to get acquainted with literary novelties, new authors and already eminent publications.
Famous Russian prose writers, poets, literary critics, publicists, cinematographers, cultural figures participated in the programm of the fair. There were ten areas for meetings with them. Such famous figures as Dmitry Khaustov, Sasha Sulim, Vladimir Pozner gave their lectures at “non/fiction”. In addition the organizers of the fair offered live broadcasts of the lectures for those who for some reason couldn’t attend the event.
Publishers from Bulgaria, Hungary, Great Britain, Germany, Denmark and many other countries presented their books at “non/fiction”. There was a huge choice of books in foreign languages. A lot of activities and entertainment were created for people of different ages and interests.
Fans of old books could visit the department "Antique book and second-hand books" and see the most rare and valuable editions. There was also a separate stand for lovers of fine dishes. Avid travelers in the pandemic could enjoy their favorite countries with the help of books. The comics department was especially popular with people where it was possible not only to buy new items but also to see a huge number of paintings with the favourite heroes.
